Marian Barker

Marian Lynn Barker died May 25th, 2014, at the age of 58. She is survived by her parents, Lyndon and Edna Barker, daughter and son-in-law, Christie and JuJu Harshaw, beloved grandchildren, Hannah and Hayden Harshaw, brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Lisa Barker, sister and brother-in-law, Cathy Barker- Brown and Garrett Brown, nieces, Megan Barker and Kristin Barker and nephew Jake Joseph, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Warner and Bertha Barker and Odus and Gatesy Pettycord.
Marian devoted her life to taking care of others, as a mother, as a child, as a grandmother, as a sister, as an aunt, as a nurse, and as a friend. She always put others needs before hers. If you had the privilege to know her, you knew the size of her heart. Her greatest joys in life always came from what she was able to give, rather than that which she received. She worked at St. Vincent's Rehabilitation Hospital for over 20 years as a devoted LPN. She was respected and trusted by those that she worked with and loved deeply by those she cared for. She was generous to a fault and didn't know how or when to say "No." Her life revolved around her family, to whom she gave so much with nothing expected in return.
In death, she is healed, her soul is free.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 at Amboy Baptist Church.
