Marguerite Shirley Fenimore Harrison, 78, of Batesville, was born July 20, 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri to William Jennings and Marie Ann Wehmeyer Fenimore. She passed away on July 14, 2010 surrounded by family and friends at the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas following complications from a stroke. She was a member of the Gallipolis, Ohio Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Harrison served several years in the United States Air Force working with top military brass in Colorado Springs, Colorado where she met and married her husband. She worked 25 years in various banking capacities, was vice president of John Harrison Ford, Inc. in Toppenish, WA, and was president of Harrison Orchards, Zillah, WA. At the time of her passing, she was a homemaker and vice president of Harrison Truck and Trailer, Inc., Batesville, AR. She was a crossword and puzzle solver, loved working outdoors around her home, and cherished caring for her dog George and 21 African Geese.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four infant siblings; brother, William Edgar Fenimore; sister, Ruth Fenimore McCarthy; and sister-in-law, Eleanor Jean Trout and her husband Jim. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, John E. Harrison; a son, Lonnie Harrison of Reston, Virginia and his two sons, John and William Harrison; two daughters, Roni Harrison of Bryant, Arkansas and her two daughters, Shawni and Leeona Harrison; and Donna Morrison and her husband Brian of Shreveport, Louisiana and their three daughters, Alicia Whitmer and her husband Brian, Amber Morrison, and Amanda Champlin and her husband Spencer; and four great-grandchildren; Corbin Byers, Madison Champlin, and Anna and Lauren Whitmer; sister, Lucille Hoffman of St. Louis; brothers, Larry Fenimore and his wife Corliss of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Kenneth Fenimore and his wife Jean of Godley, Texas; sister-in-law, Mary Fenimore of Littleton, Colorado; and brother-in-law, Stanley Harrison and his wife Doris of Winchester, VA. Shirley Harrison was a great wife, mother, & granny. She will be sorely missed by all who had the joy of knowing her.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Chapel in Gallipolis, Ohio. Officiating will be Pastor Jim Lusher of Faith Baptist Church, Bidwell, Ohio. Interment will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery in Gallipolis. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2010 at the funeral chapel, with an Eastern Star Service beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Honoring Mrs. Harrison as pallbearers will be Spencer Champlin, Larry Fenimore, David Harrison, John Harrison, Lonnie Harrison, William Harrison, Brian Morrison,Brian Whitmer and Tim Trout.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Gary Barnes, Ronnie Burnette, Doug Coker, Larry Fenimore, Jr., Mark Fenimore, Randy Hamon, Terry Hoffman, Gary Northup, Lonnie Stane, Paul Trout and Freddie White.
