Margie Smeltzer, a dedicated caregiver in childcare, has left us to commemorate her life on November 28, 2023.
She was born on April 11, 1941, in Jerusalem, Arkansas, the daughter of Ellis Lee Stroud and Ocie Esther Ferguson Stroud. She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Cliff Smeltzer, who passed away in 2016; her sister, Wanda Duvall; brothers, Carroll Stroud and Doris Stroud; stepdaughter, LaDonna Campbell; and step-granddaughter, Jennifer Burton.
Margie's family played the most significant role in her life. She treasured and prioritized them above all else. Her devotion and love for her family were qualities that defined her character.
Throughout her career as a caregiver in childcare Margie nurtured and cared for countless children who knew her as "Mrs. Margie". She had a special gift for creating a warm and loving environment so that children could thrive. Margie’s compassion and dedication to the well-being of others will always be cherished and remembered by those whose lives she touched.
Beyond her career, Margie had a variety of hobbies and interests that brought joy to her life. She delighted in watching Christmas Hallmark movies, basking in the warmth of the sun, and trying her luck at penny slots in Tunica. The holiday season held a special place in Margie's heart, filling her with happiness that radiated to everyone around her.
Margie leaves behind a profound legacy. She is survived by her son, Jeff Smeltzer and daughter-in-law, Karen; granddaughter, Victoria Guillory and husband, Mike; granddaughter, Leigh Ann Petree, and husband, Spencer; great-granddaughter, Maleah; brother, Dale Stroud and wife, Shirley; stepdaughter, Rhonda Burton and husband, Paul. Margie's extended family members and a host of wonderful friends will also mourn her loss.
As we bid farewell to Margie, let us remember the light she brought into the lives of so many. Her caring nature, selflessness, and love will forever be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her soul find eternal peace and may the memories of her warmth and kindness provide comfort to those grieving her departure.
