Margie V. Childress age 87 of Alpine died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 in Arkadelphia. She was born May 12, 1921 in Fendley, Arkansas the daughter of the late Thomas Monroe and Frances Emma Thomason Childress. Margie was a retired seamstress for the Oberman and Hollywood Manufacturing Company in Arkadelphia. She was Treasurer for Oak Grove Community Church for more than 20 years. She was a devoted caregiver for her mother, and her brother Otha and Roy during their last years. She was a Baptist and a dedicated servant of God. She loved cooking, gardening, and working outdoors.

Survivors include three sisters, Nell Wetherington, Eunice Holder and Pearl Buck, all of Arkadelphia, several nieces and nephews, and numerous friends. She was preceeded in death by three brothers, Otha, Roy, and George T. Childress.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, May 1, 2009 at Oak Grove Cemetery with Bro. Billy Thomason officiating. Visitation will be 1-6 PM Thursday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.

Memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Cemetery Fund.
