Wilma Margaret Shook of McRae, Arkansas passed away on August 29, 2011, at the age of 94.
Margaret was a homemaker who dearly loved her family and enjoyed taking care of them. She was a positive influence in the lives of her son, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was known for her fine cooking and was always ready to share with visitors. She was a special person to family members, neighbors and many, many friends. One thing in particular she will be remembered for was her celebration of holidays and the joy she received from seeing others appreciate her decorations. On Halloween, Easter and Christmas, many children took delight in visiting Mrs. Margaret and enjoying her decorations. She had a special knack for immediately putting people at ease and making each and every person feel special. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Margaret, the second of five children, was born to Irene and Samuel Guenrich on March 17, 1917 in Seward, Nebraska.
On August 26, 1933, at the age of 16, Margaret wed Edd Stanley Shook in Wilburn, Arkansas and they were married sixty-one years. Margaret and Edd shared a happy life together, spending most of their married lives farming. They also enjoyed camping, gardening and traveling to various parts of the United States, usually to visit relatives in Colorado. Always an encourager to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Grandma would say, "Go, visit places, do all you can, and enjoy life while you are able!"
Margaret is survived by her son, Stanley Dean Shook of McRae; a brother, Jack (Bobbie) Guenrich of North Little Rock; three grandchildren, Michael (Cheryl) Shook of Stuttgart, Larry (Belinda) Shook of McRae and Deanna (Bryan) Fancher of Harvest, Alabama; eight great-grandchildren, Martie (Rick) Benton of Beebe, Matt (Lauren) Shook of Beebe, Steven Shook, Clay Shook, Sarah Barnett, and Emily Barnett of Stuttgart, Dylan Fancher and Dalton Fancher of Harvest, Alabama; and, two great-great-grandchildren, Brody Shook and Brayton Benton of Beebe; sisters-in-law, Katie Guenrich of Manitou Springs, Colorado and Leda Sample of Rosevelt; a special niece, Irene Ford of Searcy; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
