Margaret Ann Nelmark of Little Rock, daughter of the late Melvin and Alma (Lundquist) Nelson, died April 18, 2010. She was born in Virginia, Minnesota on September 14, 1940 and was a 1958 graduate of Mt. Iron (Minnesota) High School. Margaret followed in her father's footsteps and entered the U.S. Navy in December of 1958. While stationed in Alameda, California, she met and married her first husband, Henry A. Griner of Perryville, Missouri. In April 1960, while pregnant with her only child, she was discharged from active duty service. During the next thirteen years she traveled as a U.S. Navy dependent to Japan and later to several naval bases and independent duty locations throughout the United States. She returned to Virginia, Minnesota in 1973 where her first marriage ended. Later, she met and married her husband of almost 34 years, Roger M. Nelmark. For many years, Margaret volunteered her time visiting people in retirement centers and caring for pets in animal shelters. She was a member of the Republican Women's Club and Highland Valley United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Nelmark was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Lowell, Wendell and Gerald, and a sister, Marilyn LoPresti. She is survived by her loving husband, Roger M. Nelmark; one son, Patrick H. Griner (Janice) of Madison, Alabama; step-daughter, Jody Nelmark of San Diego, California; step-son, Michael (Micker) Nelmark of Minneapolis, Minnesota; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 22 from 5-7 p.m. at Highland Valley United Methodist Church, 15524 Chenal Parkway. Funeral services with Military Honors will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 23 at the church with the Reverend Daniel R. Kirkpatrick officiating. Memorials may be made to Highland Valley United Methodist Church.
