Margaret Cook

Margaret Cook, 94, of North Little Rock passed away on October 17, 2019.  She was born on June 27, 1925 in Russellville, Arkansas to the late Willard and Sarah Rollow.

Margaret attended primary and secondary schools in Russellville and graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1943.  One year later, she graduated from Fern-Eaton Beauty College and served customers in Little Rock before opening her own shop and later helping to manage larger salons in North Little Rock.

Margaret was married for 62 years to the late Richard Cook, her high school sweetheart.  They married in 1945 in California when he returned from his World War II service in the Pacific.

She was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and part of the turban ministry team.  To many, she will be remembered for her commitment to the special education department.

To her family, she was Grandma, a woman of creative energy, ready to laugh and lend a hand.  She delighted in visits from grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved playing school, bingo, and pool, doing art projects, or just sharing a warm smile and loving hugs.  Each day began with gratitude to God and ended with tireless hope that tomorrow would be even better.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandy Durham (Charlie) of Tuscaloosa, AL and Christy Furcron (Cliff) of North Little Rock; four grandchildren, Erica Durham of Atlanta, GA, Kristen Hargreaves (Darrell) of Tuscaloosa, AL, Angie Herndon (Trey) and Russ Furcron (Maria) of North Little Rock; three great-grandchildren, Durham Davis of Tuscaloosa, AL, Ava Lile Furcron and Hope Herndon of North Little Rock; one sister, Janice Ruple of Sherwood, AR; and one brother, Jimmy Rollow (Patsy) of Clinton, TN.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 20 from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main, 758-1170.  The graveside service will be Monday, October 21 at 2:00 PM at Rest Hills Memorial Park with Dr. Ken Shaddox officiating.

Memorials may be made to Park Hill Baptist Church, 201 East C St, North Little Rock, AR 72116 or the charity of your choice.
