Manuel Allen

Manuel Evans Allen, 87, of Sherwood, was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on December 17, 1922 and died September 15, 2010. His parents were William and Adeline Perry Evans. His adoptive parents were James and Nora Allen. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Northern France, with Battery A, 871st Field Artillery Battalion, 66th Division. He joined the Arkansas Air National Guard in 1957, and was a member of the 189th Combat Support Squadron, retiring in 1982 as a Master Sergeant. He was also retired from the VA Hospital in Little Rock. Manuel was a member, for over 40 years, of Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church in Sherwood.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bertha Hutchins Allen; son, Robert Allen and wife, Sueko, of La Luz, New Mexico; daughter, Sharon Kingsella and husband, Dave, of Clackamas, Oregon; six grandsons, David Kingsella, Blake Allen, Robert Allen, Joel Allen, Michael Kingsella, and Bobby Allen; four great-grandsons, Ryan Kingsella, Chris Allen, Julian Allen, and Tyler Allen; four great-granddaughters, Andrea Allen, Amanda Allen, Kaitlyn Kingsella, and Kayla Allen.
Memorials may be made to The Alzheimer's Research Foundation, Fisher Center, One Intrepid Square, West 46th Street & 12th Avenue, New York, NY 10036.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main, 758-1170. . Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
