Mamie Roberts

Mamie (Burnetta) Roberts, 84, of Sherwood, passed on to be with her Lord and Savior March 7, 2010. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and a faithful member of Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church in Sherwood. She was born on June 27, 1925 to the late Robert and Jennie Carmichael.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oather Henry Roberts and infant son, James Henry Roberts. Also preceding her in death were five brothers; Carl, Lafayette, Fay, Junior, and Oscar Carmichael and one sister, Viola Copeland.
She is survived by three sons, Leo Roberts and wife, Sandra (Gravel Ridge), Eddie Roberts and wife, Becky (Gravel Ridge), Bobby Roberts and wife, LaVonda (Macon); daughter, Wilma Jean Roberts (Gravel Ridge); and sister, Margaret Thorne (Guy). She leaves behind six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was a lady who never hesitated to give of herself to aid others. Several of her grandchildren could say she helped raise them. At the age of 65, she eagerly volunteered to babysit her first two great-grandchildren free of charge while their parents worked. She worked in the community at food banks and care centers until she was 84 years old.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church or can be designated in care of the Care Center aided by the Church.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main, 758-1170. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Brickell and Rev. Hardy Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Sharon Cemetery in Naylor, Arkansas.
