Mabel M. Voss, age 85, of Little Rock passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 in McAlester, Oklahoma
Mabel lived most of her life in the Little Rock, Arkansas area where she was a loving mother, wife, and homemaker.
In her early years Mabel excelled in semi-pro basketball and softball, playing and barnstorming with the renowned Hazel Walker All Stars.
Mabel was also an accomplished bowler, competing in many state and national tournaments. In league play, she had a 700 plus series and a high game of 289.
Active in the PTA, Mabel held many local and state positions and was awarded a Life-Time PTA pen and membership.
After rearing her five children, Mabel enjoyed being a "demo hostess" for Brown Packing Company. Her children and children's friends considered it the ultimate treat to partake one of her delicious pies or cakes.
Mabel and her husband of 63 years, Carl, enjoyed traveling throughout the US and abroad on business and pleasure.
Mabel is survived by daughters Judy Stallings, Gloria Kemp, and Charlotte Voss, sons Carl Voss and wife Linda, and Roger Voss and wife Cynthia, sister-in-laws, Mary Anne Rogers and Jean Voss; eight grandchildren, Ginger Schmidt and husband John, Angie Nelson and husband Scott, Kimberly Aitkens and husband Charlie, Richard Voss and wife Mona Gayle, Becca Woods and husband Eddie, Piper Kemp, Matthew Voss, Rachel Voss, and eight great grandchildren, Jalana, Jessica and Jacob Schmidt, Mallory and Lanie Nelson, McKane Leichner, Daric and Brayson Voss.
She was preceded in death by husband, Carl; brothers Austin, Charles, Clifton, Bud and Sonny Rogers, and grandson Bert Burgess.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, May 30 at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main, 757-1170. Visitation will be held before the service from 1:00-2:00 PM. Burial will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
