On December 1, 2017, Lyle's life completed a full circle. He was born July 21, 1934 at his parents' home in Little Rock and died peacefully at his sister's home in Clinton, that formerly belonged to his parents.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, William M. Thompson, Lida and Guy Cates, and his wife Carolyn.
He is survived by his daughter, Tracy (Richard) Downing, his son, Toby (Kelly) Thompson, granddaughter Tina (Dalton) Dunlap, two great-grandchildren DJ & Bailee, two sisters Angie Smith and Ramona Miller, three cats and adopted family, the Olegarios.
He had three sister-in-laws, Jean, Connie, Mary, and very special friends including Joyce, Ruby, Dale Reagan and his church men's group.
A U.S. Army Veteran who enjoyed traveling the U.S. & world, with his wife Carolyn and their joint love of horse racing & casinos. He was a retired salesman for American Greeting Corporation, who drew great pleasure visiting and serving his many Arkansas customers including Walmart.
Lyle was a member of Sherwood Baptist church and also attended Kellogg Valley Baptist Church. Visitation will be Thursday, December 7, 2017, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pulaski County Humane Society.
