Luisa T. Salinas, 68, of Jacksonville, Arkansas passed from this life to glory on December 24, 2010 while at her home. She was born on August 18, 1942 in Mission, Texas.
Preceded in death by her father, Cesario Trejo, her mother, Otila Chavila and a brother, Amado Trejo, she is survived by a wonderful extended family including Antonio M. Salinas, her husband of over 49 magnificent years; her ten children, Isabel Dixon, Juan A. Salinas, Roel Salinas, Belinda Salinas, Rose M. Highsmith, Marcos E. Salinas, Luis C. Salinas, Destiny Welsh, Raquel Pagan, Jennifer Slayter and their spouses; over 40 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brother, Cesario Trejo; and two sisters, Sara Trejo and Isabel Trejo Solis.
Luisa was a dynamic woman of great faith and prayer and had more love and sacrifice for her family than anything else on earth. She made sure photos wall-papered her house, keeping her children before her eyes at all times. She was proud of her Apache heritage and relished the idea of being kin to Geronimo. Everyone appreciated her incredible gift of cooking - especially during the holidays and family cook-outs. Men were not allowed in her kitchen. She also had a flair for sewing and has created very beautiful dresses for her family. She loved her hummingbirds, her pepper plants, and as much green as the world could hold. You can see her in the children she raised.
She was a minister's wife and treasured her walk with the Lord for almost 30 years. She received the gift of the Holy Ghost and was baptized in Jesus' name in Aurora, Ilinois. Her New Birth experience would change her life and the future of her family. She was known for praying, even while working around her house, and she would read her Bible through as often as once per month and cherished Isaiah 43 and Psalm 84. She was always the preacher's friend. She was a faithful saint of First Pentecostal Church in North Little Rock and is already missed by her church family.
Overall, she was the only one of an only kind, and life will not be the same without "Momma".
