Lucy Genalee Martin Lester was born January 13, 1932 to Angelo ?Mike? and Mary Bakalekos in North Little Rock Arkansas. She died Thursday April 24, 2008 at Baptist Springhill Hospital in North Little Rock, at the age of 76.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Christine and Helen. Her beloved husband, Gene Martin, died June 9, 1971.
Genalee leaves behind to cherish her memory: her children, daughter, Marilyn Finney; sons, Robert Martin (Anita), Gregory Martin (Regina), Michael Martin and daughter Marcie Finney (David Singleton); four grandchildren, Jenny Lee Martin (Shawn Hill), Jason Martin, Jesse Martin and Tyler Martin; one great grandchild, Matthew Hill; brothers, John Bakalekos Sr. (LaVerne), Jimmy Bakalekos, Michael Bakalekos Sr.; sister, Bessie Martin; special friends, Tuan and Kim Huyhn, Kaye Denny, Jeannie Tucker, Edward Brownlow and Edie Singleton; and her canine guardian angels, Scooby, Princess and Cee Cee.
Although there are too many to name, some of the precious parts of our Mama that will be cherished and celebrated, her love of flower gardens, birds and butterflies, colorful clothes, shoes, music, dancing, laughter; the joy she found in caring for others, her fierce love and concern for her children, grandchildren and family. Her determination and courage that sustained us through her amazing battle with cancer this last year. Mama loved and trusted the Lord Jesus Christ with her whole heart. God bless all who prayed for her. In His wisdom and love for her, He has taken her Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
