Lucy May Mueller Cashman, age 100, departed this life May 31st 2008, retaining the gentle and gracefilled spirit in death that she displayed in life. She was born June 20, 1907 on a farm near Easton, MO and was the next to the youngest of 11 children.
Mrs. Cashman began her professional career with the Jones Hat Company of St. Joseph, MO. She soon moved to Kansas City to work as a secretary with the Ford Finance Company and later United Adjustment and Inspection Company. After marriage to William Cashman and the birth of a son, she turned to full time house keeping.
Mrs. Cashman was a hospital volunteer and was active in a number of organizations within the Kansas City area. These included the Rockhurst Heritage Society, Rockhurst Circle, Columban Mission Guild, Women of Christ the King, and the Ladies of Charity of which she was a member for over 35 years. She was an enthusiastic Kansas City sports fan, always rooting for the Royals and Chiefs. She loved to garden, tending her roses carefully, and enjoyed a good game of bridge. She was a lady of grace and gentleness, equally at ease entertaining guests formally or informally in her home.
She is survived by her son, Dan Cashman and his wife, Carolyn; four grandchildren, Rebecca Cashman Sanderson and husband, John, Stephen Cashman and wife, Kay, Suzanne Cashman Rain and husband J, Michael Cashman, six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
A vigil service will be held in Little Rock at Christ the King Church, 4000 North Rodney Parham Rd. at 7:00PM on Tuesday June 3rd 2008. A second vigil will be held in Kansas City at Mt. Moriah Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Christ the King in Kansas City on June 9th 2008 at 10:00AM with interment at Mt. Olivet cemetery.
