Lucille Ada Mayfield, 92, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away peacefully on May 9, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born April 4, 1929 to Ira and Ruby Moss in Newark, Arkansas. She was a lifetime member of Lifeway Baptist Church and had many lifelong friends through her church. She worked in various sales jobs through the years but her main goal and happiness came from her family and friends. She was friendly, loyal, and loved fiercely and unconditionally. Her kitchen door was always open. No one ever left her house hungry. She kept an appointment book with everyone’s birthdays and if you knew her at all you got a birthday cake with her special decorative touches. She found her happiness by making others happy. She had a playful sense of humor and a made-up saying for every situation. One of her favorite sayings was, “what goes around, comes around.” She truly lived her life by this and will be missed by all who were blessed enough to know her.
She is survived by children, Becky Stringham (Larry) and Gina Redford; Wowo and Memaw to her grandchildren, Brooke Mayfield Buckley (Sam Heard), Bryan Martin, Mandy Engel Butler (Stephen), Nicholas Engel (Mikey Tackett), Jilian Thomas, Kadi Lindsey (Sean), Sydni Redford, Ian Redford, and Ginger Porter (Kent); and great-grandchildren, Griffin, Haden, Sophie, Jasper, Zoe, Edie, Aria, Sawyer, Marlie, Sterling, J.W. and Holt; sister, Iva Brewer; brother, Lawrence “Buddy” Moss; and other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Melvin Mayfield; parents; siblings, Oscar, Grover Lee, and Barbara Smothers; son, Kerry Alden Mayfield; and grandson-in-law, Chad Buckley.
For those wishing to remember Lucille in a special way, please take time to do something that she loved… look for beautiful birds and feed them, plant some flowers, or just do something kind for somebody else.
Visitation will be at 10:00 am, followed by a Celebration of her Life at 11:00 am, Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Court. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery.
