Louis B. Strack, 86, of Little Rock, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011. He was born in Little Rock to Louis J. and Julia Byrne Strack. He graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Conway and joined the Coast Guard with his brothers, Andrew and Richard in 1942. He served aboard the 83499 (Coast Guard cutter) and the U.S.S. Callaway (PA35) attack transport. In March, 1946 he was discharged and worked in the grocery business with his father for six years, followed by 36 years of service in the office supply department of Paragon Printing. Mr. Strack was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, and a past member of the 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. and enjoyed going to the casinos and racetracks.
Preceded in death by his parents and son, Michael Strack, he is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Alline M. Strack; son, John L. Strack of Little Rock; daughter, Cissy Thornton of Conway; brother, Ira Strack of North Little Rock; sisters, Mildred Krauskop and Virginia Hall, both of Little Rock; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A Rosary will be said Thursday evening, April 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Little Rock Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be Friday, April 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, celebrated by Father Richard Zawadzki. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Discalced Carmelite Nuns, 7201 W. 32nd St., Little Rock, AR 72204.
