Louis Russell Bloodworth

Louis Russell “Russ” Bloodworth, age 73, of Hot Springs passed away, Friday, February 11, 2022.

He was born on December 14, 1948, in Hot Springs the son of James Russell Bloodworth and Clara Brazeal Bloodworth. On August 26, 1969 he married, Carolyn Jane James whom preceded him on April 5, 2019. He was also preceded by his parents and one grandchild, Thomas Suta, Jr.

Russ was a Christian in his faith. He was a retired Major from the United States Army, serving during Vietnam and Persian Gulf War era, during this time he discovered his love of flying helicopters, he was an Airborne Ranger. He was a member of the Arkansas National Guard at Fort Chaffee and Camp Robinson and a member of the VFW Post 4451 of Mena. Russ received his Batchelor Degree of History and Political Science from the Arkansas Technical College of Russellville. He later retired from the United States Postal Service as the Post Master of Mena. He was a real outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing, he also enjoyed reading, movies, political commentary, watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys and the Razorbacks. Russ loved spending time with family and friends, he will be greatly missed.

Russ is survived by his children, Suzanne Suta, Jeanne and Chris Carmack, Leslie and Mike Bell and James Bloodworth, all of Hot Springs; his grandchildren, Jessica and James Hulsey, Brandon and Rachelle Carmack, Kelli Suta and fiancée Josh Stone, Hunter Jones, Brooke Jones and Emi Aubuchon; his great-grandchildren, Carolina Hulsey and Owen Carmack; his brother, Phillip Bloodworth of McKinney, Texas; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Penny and Mike Whitley and Gloria and Steve Pestikas, all of McKinney, Texas; his close friend and flight buddy, Jim Wingfield of Mountain Home; nieces, nephews, extended family members and other friends.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 16, 2022, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Hot Springs.

Interment will be held at 2:30 PM in the Hunt Chapel Cemetery near Waldron.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Carmack, Hunter Jones, James Bloodworth, James Hulsey, Mike Bell, Josh Stone, Chris Carmack, Johnny Chiamsachang and Allen James.
