Louie Eugene Smith

Louie Eugene Smith, age 91, of Tyler, Texas, passed away on February 7, 2025. He was born July 4, 1933, to Louie Leon Smith and Irene Pounders Smith. He was raised in Grady, Arkansas by his parents, Louie Smith and Warnia Byerly Smith.

Louie was a devoted father and husband. He also was a boating enthusiast, spending many weekends on the lake. Later, he began racing motorcycles and spent the weekends at the track. He was quite the handy man, working on motorcycles and automobiles.

He never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. He truly had a servant’s heart. Louie’s relationship with the Lord was important to him and was shown in his daily walk. He attended Second Baptist Church where he was a faithful member.

Louie had many hobbies, but what was most important to him was his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandson whom he loved dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Carolyn Tabor, Patricia Dwiggins, and Ronnie Smith.

Louie is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Elsie Smith; daughter, Kathy Hill (Barry); grandchildren, Kevin Hill, Kelli Hill; great-grandson, Wyatt Moseley; brothers, Leon Smith (Dorothy) of Quitman, Arkansas, Don Smith of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Jerry Smith (Kathy) of Burlington, Colorado; sisters, Judy Zack (Howard) of Garner, North Carolina; Doris Howard of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and a host of many extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 17, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
