Lorrane Gunter, 84, of Watertown, New York, (formerly of Austin, Arkansas), has her place in heaven! Lorrane Armistead Gunter died peacefully January 18, 2010 at Samaritan Medical Hospital after suffering a stroke January 15, 2010.
She was born in Leslie, Missouri on May 30, 1925, the daughter of the late Anna Della Bates and Richard Marcilus Armistead. She was one of eight children and was predeceased by her older and younger siblings, Marcilus Armistead, Sarah Lucille Anderson, Earnest Armistead, Ethel Mary Belt, Mabel Bernice Ware, Maryret Ellen DeClus, Annabell Irine Nichols. Lorrane married her beloved husband Lloyd Gunter June 6, 1981 - he passed February, 1990.
She was a prayerful woman; a member of the Sixteenth Section Methodist Church and choir. She was a famous pie maker (the best), and took painting classes at Beebe College in later years. She won many awards and ribbons. Lorrane also enjoyed reading, walking, garage sale hopping with Marlene Moore, fishing, gardening and canning and sharing the harvest with friends and family.
She was a good mother and friend who loved her community. To all the people of the Sixteenth Section who loved, befriended and helped care for our mother, we thank you! For it was you who allowed her to be independent so long. Noble Rees, who cut and stacked her wood, Barbara Troutman and others who brought meals, Helen who helped with figuring bills, doctor visits, and all the others, God bless you all.
Lorrane's love for her family was the highlight of her life. She is survived by her daughter, Linda L. and son-in-law David J. Davidson of Dexter, New York, son Jerry Michael Baker and wife Debbie of Clayton, New York, and daughter Zelda Sue and son-in-law Russell Riley of Little Rock; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
