Lorraine Walker Robb was born to Goldie and Willis Walker in Wamego, Kansas on May 16, 1926 and died peacefully on May 7, 2015 in Little Rock. She graduated from Wamego High School, attended Cosmetology School and in 1945 married Dr. A. D. Robb, a veterinarian in Wamego, where their three children, Beverly, Don and Lynda, were all born. While still in Wamego, she was President of the Kansas Veterinarian's Auxiliary and became a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She operated a beauty salon in Wamego until 1952 when her husband went to work for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and his government duties took them to Utah, Wyoming and eventually to Little Rock, Arkansas. After settling in Little Rock, she attended UAMS nursing school and graduated in 1963 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at UAMS for several years before engaging in private duty nursing care at various hospitals and nursing homes around Little Rock. During that time she also volunteered her nursing services to the Little Rock Police Department. In 1981 she joined the nursing staff of John L. McClellan VA hospital in Little Rock. She retired from the VA in 2002.
She held a variety of offices in the Arkansas Licensed Practical Nurses Association and served as its Treasurer for many years. She was very proud of her appointment to the State Nursing Board in 1987 by Governor Bill Clinton. She is past president of the Japonica Garden Club, and was active in the Pulaski Heights Lions Club. She was also a long time and very active member of Rosedale Baptist Church.
She was predeceased by her parents, Goldie and Willis Walker, a brother George Willis Walker, and two grandsons Jerome Trujillo and Tealano Trujillo. She is survived by daughter Beverly Brownfield (Fred) of Golden, Colorado, daughter Lynda Sherrod (James) of Tacoma Washington, and one son Don (Janet) of Little Rock. She also leaves a granddaughter Betsy Robb of Little Rock, and four grandsons - Robb Brownfield (Denver), Brooke Brownfield (Denver), James Trujillo (Tacoma) and James Willis Robb (wife Robyn) of Little Rock.
Visitation will be Monday May 11 from 6-8 at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Court, Little Rock. Graveside services will be Tuesday May 12 at 3 pm at Rest Hills Memorial Park, 7724 Warden Road, North Little Rock with Rev. Thompson Murray officiating. The family wishes to thank the staff of Arkansas Hospice for their gentle care of Lorraine.
