Lorene Jester, age 82, wife of Clarence Jester, was born to Ambrose and Verna Cox Freeman on March 30, 1925 at Hearn in Clark County, Arkansas, She went to be with Jesus in her heavenly home on Thursday, January 24, 2008. She was the grand-daughter of Will and Alice Francis Freeman and Mary Pennington Cox.
She was preceded in death by a son Clarence Jester, Jr., a Great grand-daughter Abby Lynn Edrington, and a sister Lola Kathryn Freeman as well as her parents and grandparents.
Lorene is survived by her husband Clarence Jester, sons, Larry Jester and his wife Cynthia of Curtis, and Bobby Jester of Gurdon, two grandsons, Kevin Jester and his wife Heidi of Arkadelphia, and Brandon Finley also of Arkadelphia, five granddaughters, Autumn Greer and her husband Chris of Allen, TX, Janae Richerson and her husband Steve of Bismarck; Jennifer Edrington and her husband Stuart of Atoka, TN, Alana Bade and her husband Aaron of South Sioux City, NE, and Andi Finley of Arkadelphia, great grandsons Eric, Justin, and Jacob Richerson, Cutter Jester, Trent, and Cole Edrington; great granddaughters, Jaycee and Lizzie Beth Jester , Neva Richerson, and Aubrey Bade.
She is also survived by a two brothers, Willie Freeman of Guthrie, KY, and Billy Freeman and his wife Cleda of Bismarck, three sisters, Mary Chambers and her husband Bill of Arkadelphia, Liz Guffey and husband Eddie of Kansas, Ok, Thelma Dixon and husband Doyle of Arkadelphia.
They lived in Curtis for most of their 66 years of marriage. Lorene was a member of the Curtis Assembly of God Church, having given her heart to the Lord in 1939 at age 14. She has served as Sunday school teacher, Sunday school secretary-treasurer, and Church secretary among other Christian works. She enjoyed visiting nursing homes to encourage members of her church and family who were residents. She was an expert in crewel embroidery and a painter whose greatest inspirational work was one of the Lord's Supper. She was an accomplished seamstress and used her skills to bless others with new clothes as well as for members of her family and for herself. Lorene loved cooking for her family. She and her husband Clarence entertained many Ministers throughout the years. Lorene's greatest love along with spending time in prayer was the reading of her Bible, reading, and rereading, marking and underlining those scriptures that she had found as treasures and those she had marked during the many sermons throughout her life. Lorene also assisted her husband in the Clarence Jester Logging Business by keeping the records and preparing the payrolls.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel in Arkadelphia, with Kevin Jester, grandson, and Rev. G. C. Kirksey officiating. He is pastor of the Curtis Assembly of God Church. Visitation will be from 4-6 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Internment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens 1-1/2 miles west of Arkadelphia on Hwy 8.
