Lorene Franks Bivens, age 102 of Arkadelphia, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2010. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Brodie Bivens, her son George "Buddy" Bivens, one brother, three sisters and three grandchildren,

She is survived by two sons; Louie Wade Bivens and Brodie Dwain Bivens, one daughter Clara Jean Joiner. She was blessed with and survived by 14 grandchildren, 38 great-grand children and 18 great-great grandchildren.

Born, Aug 30, 1908 in Horse Creek, TN, her family later moved to Tyronza, AR. She met Brodie while working in the cotton fields, then married Oct. 9, 1927. She continued to work the fields and he at the cotton gin, while raising 4 children. Upon Brodie's retirement in the mid 60's, they moved to the DeGray community near Arkadelphia. They celebrated 58 years of marriage before his death. Prior to her death, she lived with her daughter Clara and son-in-law Wally Joiner. She loved her children, grands, great and great-greats. She had every name and birthday of each and everyone in her family Bible. She loved getting cards and letters in the mail, including those from her pen pals. "Great" loved watching and listening to the songbirds.

A graveside service, as she is laid to rest next to her husband, will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday September 28, in the Tyronza Cemetery in Tyronza, AR
