Lois Pippin

Lois A. Pippin, age 85, went to be her Lord and Savior on March 13, 2020. She was born March 16, 1934 in Milwaukee, WI to Margaret Ester Wulff Harned and William Henry Harned. When Lois was 10 years old her Mother died. Her father remarried and Lois always spoke very highly of her step-mother, Selma Olson.

In 1952, Lois enlisted in the WAVES. It was there where she met Seaman Ross Lee Pippin. They were married, had a son named Dennis Brian Pippin and a daughter named Linda Gayle Pippin (deceased April 10, 2013). As the years went by, her husband climbed the ladder to success in the Navy. But with the long voyages he was often called upon to complete, Lois realized it was up to her to do the majority of the parenting as she was all too often left alone. They divorced soon afterwards while the children were both still very young.

There was nothing more important to Lois than her children. She lived and worked just to see the smiles on their faces. Lois was a very hard worker and made sure her children always knew they were loved because she put them first in her life. Growing up her children may not have had expensive things, but they never went without. There is a saying; children never appreciate the sacrifice of the parent until they become one. There is so much truth in this by just looking at Lois's life. She raised her children all alone and still managed to keep a clean house, have food on the table, give the children birthday presents and Christmas gifts they went to the Lutheran Church together regularly, celebrated holidays and always took her children on vacations every year.

Lois loved reading and her favorite genre was mystery books. She would take her children with her to the library and her children learned not just the value of reading but the joy in reading. Lois loved cats, crossword puzzles, baking cookies, beach, camping, fashion, music, live theater, entertainment with friends and travel. And up until five years ago she was driving herself to a local exercise group that she enjoyed very much.

Every person who ever met Lois marveled on how different she was for she never complained, never cursed, never raised her voice, and did not gossip. She was a classy, kind, lady with a gentle soul. Lois always put other people's feelings and needs before her own.

After Lois left the WAVES, she has always worked as a Med-Aide. She worked for Ascension Healthcare until she retired. Then she worked for ProHealth Care and retired. Even after two retirements, Lois continued to pick up numerous hours at the hospital well into her seventies. She would have continued working except that her daughter, Linda, had become deathly ill with lung cancer. Lois retired to take care of her daughter full time in her home. That is where her daughter passed away, in the comfort of her loving mother's care. Lois was truly a selfless beautiful example of God's love.

She is survived by her son, Dennis Pippin (Shadow) of Little Rock; grandchildren, Michelle Minton of Wenatchee, WA, Shannah Moody of Hallsville, TX; five great-great grandchildren.
