Lois Marie Whitehead Langston, "Mimi", of Little Rock, passed away February 16, 2010. Born July 24, 1921 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Dr. Robert Homer and Luella Whitehead, she was a graduate of DeWitt High School and Hendrix College with a B.A. in Elementary Education. She married Samuel Courtney Langston of Marianna, Arkansas during World War II. While living in Marianna, she was a volunteer and substitute teacher in the Marianna schools, and a member of the Junior Auxiliary and belonged to the First Methodist Church.
Lois loved her family and friends, often entertaining them with her Southern hospitality and cooking. She also loved to read, play bridge, travel and watch football, basketball and golf. And she loved her flowers and her dogs.
In 1975, Lois moved to Little Rock where she joined St. James United Methodist Church and continued to make new friends through her church and church circle. Her last years were spent at Parkway Health Center where she was given much love and attention from her doctor, nurses and CNAs. A very special thank you to all of them and Erma, her special caregiver from hospice.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 59 years, Courtney; brother, Dr. Robert Whitehead; and her daughter, Martha Marie Langston Hutto. She leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Lynn and Paul B.
