Lloyd Henry
Lloyd A. Henry, Jr. of Little Rock departed a joyous and fulfilling life on June 26, 2015, at the age of 68. Born on December 27, 1946, to the late Lloyd A. Henry, Sr. and Nell Murray Henry, he spent his childhood years in Augusta, Arkansas with summers visiting his maternal grandparents in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
Lloyd attended Augusta Elementary school before moving to Searcy, Arkansas with his family in 1957. He graduated from Searcy High School, a member of the closely knit class of 1964. Throughout his life, Lloyd cherished his Augusta and Searcy classmates.
His academic credentials included a Bachelor of Arts from Hendrix College in 1968, a Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1971, and a Masters of Law from Southern Methodist University in 1972.
Licensed to practice law, Lloyd served as a real estate and tax attorney, a municipal court judge, a commercial escrow closer, a legal and underwriting officer, and a staff attorney for national and local title insurance companies in Little Rock, Hot Springs and Pine Bluff, specializing in land title evaluation, underwriting and curative work.
A world traveler, Lloyd visited over 35 nations and islands throughout the UK, Europe, Africa, India, Asia and North, Central and South America. He explored world heritage ruins and sacred sites around the globe. He enjoyed exotic places, diverse cultures and unique ways of life.
Profoundly metaphysical, he believed that we are spiritual beings having a brief earthly sojourn. As visitors to this time, this place, we are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love and then we return home.
Survivors include his brother, Liles M. Henry (Marilyn), nieces, Lauren Simmons (John) and Rachel Henry, a grandnephew and niece, Austin Simmons and Ellie Clare Simmons, all of Little Rock.
At Lloyd's request, services will be private. He wished only to be remembered in the hearts and minds of those he loved and came to know so well throughout his life's journey.
Memorials may be made to Augusta United Methodist Church, 301 S, 3rd Street, Augusta, Arkansas 72006, where he was christened and received early spiritual training.
