Lloyd Douglas Carter

Lloyd Douglas Carter, 59, of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away February 24, 2023. He was born January 11, 1964 in Memphis, Tennessee to Matilda “Jackie” Carter. He died after a short battle with lung and bone cancer.

Doug graduated with the Class of 1982 at Ole’ Main. He went on to attend the Garland County Community College with a baseball scholarship. From there he went on to serve in the US Navy on the USS New Jersey BB-62 from 1983-1986. He was serving in Beirut at the time of the bombing and helped with the rescue and search mission. Doug was currently a salesman for Aqua Pool and Patio Company in Pensacola, Florida.

Doug is survived by his son, William “Will” Douglas Carter; fiancé, Lauri Gordon; mother, Matilda “Jackie” Carter and an army of dear friends. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Charley Henry Carter; grandmother, Myrna M. Carter-Weedman; mother of his son, Karen Lynne (Henson) Carter.

Doug managed, bartended and was a member of the VFW Post #9095. He had a true lifelong love for the ocean, where he always went to find his peace. He loved a good round of golf and was a walking encyclopedia of sports, especially the Arkansas Razorbacks. Doug coached his son, along with many friends’ sons, in Little League baseball. He always lived life to the fullest and never met a stranger. Doug always said “I can go from the streets to the boardroom.”

The family would like for all of his friends, especially our Godsends, Debbie Brown Morgan and John Mark Morgan, to know how much your support, help, and love for Doug truly means to us.

“Are you hurt or you just can’t play?” -Coach Kremers

“Ain’t no second thoughts. No regrets. No kinda maybes.”
