Lloyd D. Burris age 90, of Bismarck died Saturday, November 17, 2007 in Little Rock. He was born June 16, 1917 in Caney, Hot Spring Co., AR, the son of Alley Hastings and Susan Angeline Whitley Burris.
He was retired from International Paper Co. and was the oldest living member of Caney Missionary Baptist Church. His wife, Elsie Burris and one daughter, Virginia Ann Burris preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Leslie Burris and wife, Mackie; Randall Burris and wife, Diane; two daughters, Sue Newton and husband, Wayne; Marcile Thomason and husband, David, all of Bismarck; one brother, D. C. Burris of Springfield, Missouri; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday, November 20, 2007 with the family receiving friends 6-8 PM at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at Caney Missionary Baptist Church with Elder Robert Cossey, Elder Hollis McDermott, and Elder Patrick Greer officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Tucker, Matt Smith, Marty Smith, J. W. Chancellor, Dewey Howell, and Melvin Matthews; Honorary Pallbearers will be Lewis McMahan, Mark Strother, and the staff of Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Memorials may be made to Caney or Friendship Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund.
