Lisa Janette Lindsay Thornton

June 6, 1964 — February 26, 2022

Lisa Janette Lindsay Thornton, 57, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 26, 2022. Lisa was born June 6, 1964, in Little Rock, Arkansas to the Late JoAnn (Lucas) and Charles Lindsay. Lisa attended school in Little Rock and Sherwood and graduated from Sylvan Hills High School in 1982. Lisa worked at Food 4 Less and was promoted to Bakery Manager where she managed the bakery and created beautiful cakes. In 1988 she decided to take a 34-year maternity leave.

While in high school, she met the love of her life and best friend, John Thomas Thornton. Married since August 2, 1986, Lisa and Johnny have made wonderful memories traveling and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Lisa loved seeing new places and going to concerts. She and Johnny recently rode a train through the mountains from Denver to California. While they loved going places and being outdoors, they were happiest in their own backyard surrounded by family, friends, and gorgeous flowers and shrubs that Lisa had planted. Lisa loved being on the water, whether at the lake, the beach, deep sea fishing, or in her own backyard pool. Most of all, Lisa loved being a mother to Mallory, Brittany, and Tommy and “Nanny” to her grandchildren. She was so proud of them. Throughout her life, Lisa brought joy to them (she had a great sense of humor!), spent time with them and treated them with kindness. A member of the Pentecostal church, she had a quiet, consistent, calming presence and lived her Christian faith. The scripture, “Love is patient, love is kind,” is a fitting description of Lisa. Johnny describes her as the sweetest person he’s ever known.

Lisa is preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Charles Thornton. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Johnny. She has two daughters, Mallory (Allen) Reedy of Sherwood, Brittany Thornton of Bryant, and one son, Tommy Thornton, of Alameda, California. She has three grandchildren, Charlie, Jolee, and Sailor Reedy. Lisa is also survived by four siblings: Alan (Elizabeth) Lindsay of Washington DC; Gay Long of North Little Rock; Dena (Bobby) Hooper of North Little Rock; and David Lindsay of Jacksonville. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Virginia Thornton, as well as five nephews, two nieces, two great nephews, and one great niece, along with many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 3rd at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home from 5-7 PM. A funeral honoring Lisa will be on Friday, March 4th at 2 PM at First Pentecostal Church in North Little Rock, with Rev. Joel Holmes officiating. Interment will be Saturday at 1 PM at Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock.
