Lisa DeClerk

January 26, 1984 — January 23, 2025

Little Rock, Arkansas

Lisa Christine DeClerk was born on January 26, 1984, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She graced this world with her presence until January 23, 2025, when she bravely defeated Huntington’s disease, a battle she faced with unwavering courage and grace. She passed away peacefully with her family at her side.

From the very beginning, Lisa's life was filled with compassion, creativity, and a profound dedication to her family. A devoted mother, she poured all her love into her two children, Emma and Ean DeClerk. Lisa was not only their guiding star but also their biggest cheerleader, never missing a school function or special occasion. The birthday parties she orchestrated shimmered with joy, and her spirited adventures at local parks and libraries are cherished memories held dear by her children. Recently, her heart overflowed with love as she embraced the roles of grandmother to her precious Haven and Kinsleigh, proudly nurturing the next generation.

The warmth of Lisa's spirit radiated beyond her family to a remarkable circle of friends. Her lifelong companions, Crystal Smith and Ashley Sims Daniels, stood steadfastly by her side through the ups and downs, embodying the essence of friendship in its purest form. Together, they shared a bond that transcended time, navigating life’s trials while celebrating its joys. To Lisa’s family, their unyielding support is an enduring solace, a testament to the love that defines Lisa's legacy.

In 2010, Lisa faced the daunting diagnosis of Huntington’s disease, a moment that could have dimmed her spirit. Instead, it ignited a fire within her to live each day to its fullest. Not only did she dedicate herself to fighting her own battle, but she also became a beacon of hope for others. She eagerly joined research studies, aiming to aid in the quest for a cure, while participating in annual HD races, proudly crossing finish lines—sometimes with the aid of a walker—her radiant smile lighting up the darkest days. Lisa exemplified the saying, "Fall down seven times, get up eight," embodying resilience and love for all those fortunate enough to cross her path.

As we gather to commemorate her life, we find solace in the memories shared and the legacy she leaves behind. Lisa is survived by her loving parents, John Daniel “Danny” DeClerk and Jerita Herndon DeClerk, her brother Ben DeClerk and his wife Kristen, her sisters Abigail Peterman (Joshua), Jennifer Harjo Knox and Aubrey Robertson, her  beloved children Emma DeClerk (fiancé Kaleb Marsh) and Ean DeClerk, along with her adoring niece Paixley, and treasured grandchildren Haven and Kinsleigh, a multitude of aunts, uncles, and cousins, numerous friends, as well as many “nieces and nephews”; children of Lisa’s friends whom she loved as her own family.
