Linwood "Mickey" Small

Linwood Everett (Mickey) Small, Jr., of Cabot, Arkansas, peacefully made his heavenward journey on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at age 83.

Mick was welcomed into Heaven by his beloved wife of 23 years, Edna Baker Small; his parents, Linwood Small, Sr. and Flo Getshell Small; and his two brothers, Larry Small and Leighton Small. He is survived by his son, John Thomas Small, Sr. (Jennifer), of Rockland, Maine; his grandson, John Thomas Small, Jr. of Texas; his sister, Lena May Rogers (Greg), of Macungie, Pennsylvania; his stepdaughters, Marcia Mobbs (Randy) of Austin, Arkansas and Angela Weaver of Cabot, Arkansas; and other close family.

Born on May 4, 1941, in Rockland, Maine, Mick maintained a lifelong love of the ocean. As a young man, he was a Vietnam Veteran who served as a Navy Seal and a field maintenance supervisor in the Air Force. In his last 25 years, Mick contentedly lived a simple life with the love of his life, Edna, relishing games of dominoes together and doting on their cats, Fireball and Snowball. Mick was a man of many travels and interests, including collecting coins, building custom birdhouses, and watching TV westerns. He tenderly cared for Edna in her final years, and his family was honored to do the same for him. He was a Christian and a member of Victory Baptist Church in Cabot, baptized at age 81 on December 18, 2022, by his pastor, Bro. Ben Leonard. He loved Jesus and was a wonderful friend to his family, his next-door neighbors, numerous doctors and nurses who aided him during his hospitalizations, and many others who knew him.

Our family would like to express sincere thanks to Victory Baptist Church Ladies Ministry, Bro. Ben Leonard, Cathy Paris, Arkansas Hospice, and the VA Medical Center for their compassionate care. We love you, Mick!
