Linda Stevens

Linda C. Shelby Stevens, of Little Rock, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Arkansas Hospice surrounded by loving friends. She was born October 7, 1941 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, the daughter of Robert Carlton (Pete) Shelby and Dorothy Callicut Shelby.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Carey and Linda Shelby of Memphis, Tennessee; nieces, Ellen Crabtree of North Carolina and Lynna Parker of Memphis and her special young protg?, Cindy Black Thompson of Little Rock.
Linda graduated with a Business Degree from Mississippi State College for Women (now MUW). She had a Masters Degree in Deaf Education and was employed for 28 years at the Arkansas School for the Deaf where she taught Business Education and later designed, implemented and operated the Computer Lab. She also taught adult education classes at the school. During those years she was a mentor and encourager to many.
Linda was a generous and faithful daughter, sister and friend. She not only loved her friends, but also loved their children and grandchildren and pets. She was an avid reader, a political junkie? and a silent servant of needy causes. Her conversation, laughter and wit will be missed.
