Lillian Jane Staples

Lillian Jane Dowson Staples, age 96, of Glenwood, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 5, 2017. She was born on January 25, 1921 in Rochester, New York, the daughter of George Giles Dowson and Sarah Elizabeth Smith Dowson. On November 25, 1943, she was married to Robert H. Staples who preceded her in death in 2002. Lillian and her husband, Bob, retired from Rochester and made their home in Glenwood where they became faithful members of the Glenwood First Baptist Church. Bob was ordained as a deacon at the church and Lillian served in various capacities but was known for being a wonderful prayer warrior. She is survived by her son George Staples of Hope; her daughter, Sarah Cocciardi of Lansdown, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A celebration of Lillian's life will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 23, 2017, in the Glenwood First Baptist Church with Bro. Erby Burgess officiating. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
