Lillian Phyllis "Lee" Justus Cloud, born August 8, 1919, died on July 23, 2010. She was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to Elmer Henry Justus and Florence Noring Justus and met her husband during WWII in Wisconsin. They wrote to one another throughout the war and married on June 11, 1949.
Lee had a great spirit of adventure and worked as a lab technician for the Anchorage Hospital and the Alaskan Railroad during WWII. While her husband attended dental school at Washington University, she worked for the American Red Cross. After her husband finished dental school, the couple relocated to Little Rock, Arkansas. Lee helped her husband establish his dental practice and cared for their growing family. She was active in her church, St James United Methodist Church, having served on several committees. She was a member of the Agape Sunday School class for over 20 years. While their children were young, she was a Den Mother in both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She was a volunteer for several agencies including Meals on Wheels. She served as president of the Arkansas Dental Auxiliary. During the crisis at Central High School, she was an active member of the Women's Emergency Committee to Open Our Schools. She had many faithful friends in her bridge clubs of 25 years. During her last years, as she became more housebound, she knit shawls for people in hospitals and nursing homes. She is remembered by her family for her love of God and her family, her hand-knit sweaters and great Grammie rolls and German Christmas bread.
