Lida Ladonia "Donia" Housley left this world for the embrace of her Savior on November 30, 2018. She was born on September 18, 1927 in Bonnerdale, Arkansas to Lawson Lambert and Luda Copeland Lambert. She transitioned peacefully in her sleep at her home in Little Rock. She was 91 years old.
Donia was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Allen Samuel Housley, her brother, Leonard Lambert, of Benton and one sister, Loreta Saffell, of Mabelvale.
Donia was affectionately known as "Anmother" by her family. Anmother is survived by four children: Brenda Springer (Clif) of Bryant; Larry Housley (Janice) of Mabelvale; Sheila Bulloch (Gary) of Little Rock and Stephen Housley (Kim) of Sherwood, two brothers Hughie Lambert of Hot Springs, Willard Lambert of Springtown, Texas and one sister, Mildred Small of Arkadelphia. Her surviving 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren will miss her special holiday celebrations and delicious meals. A host of loving nieces and nephews also survive her.
She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a true friend. One of the monumental highlights of her day was being with her family, especially her grandchildren, at the ball fields or participating in their activities.
Donia was an excellent seamstress, using this gift to create beautiful clothing. She made her daughters' wedding dresses. Her baby quilts and "one-of-a kind" designs for her grandchildren's nurseries were treasured. She was dedicated in her desire to share God's love by volunteering at Dorcus House and crocheting delicate baby clothes. Immanuel Baptist Church was her church home for over 70 years, faithfully serving the Lord in countless ways and with a joyful heart. She had a green thumb that produced a bountiful harvest of vegetables and flowers of all varieties that she shared with family and friends. She and Allen found such joy and comfort in their garden on Pinnacle Valley Road. She was the store manager for Hancock Fabrics on Cantrell Road for 25 years, retiring in 1989.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 5th at Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock by Dr. Clif Springer. Visitation will precede the service starting at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Memorials may be made to a Charity of choice.
We will miss our Anmother, but because of Jesus' death and resurrection and His gift of salvation we will see her again. To God be the Glory.
