Lewis Roberts,

January 8, 1929 — June 9, 2008

Lewis Roberts,

Lewis ?Robbie? Roberts, Jr., born January 8, 1929, in Lakeland, Florida to the late Blanche Rosealtha Hutchingson and Lewis Roberts, Sr., went to be with the Lord and Savior on Monday, June 9, 2008. He fought a good fight and finished the race and now he has gone on to receive his prize of eternal life that awaits all who live by faith in Jesus Christ.

Robbie was preceded in death by the love of his life, cherished wife of 43 years, Ann Joyce Roberts. He leaves behind the fruit of his and Ann?s life together ? daughter, Elizabeth Rose Giles and her husband, SFC John Giles of Ft. Mitchell, Alabama; daughter, Carol Jean Bishop and her husband, Doug Bishop of Alexander, Arkansas; and, daughter, Katherine Ann Tucker of Sherwood, Arkansas. He also leaves behind a heritage of seven grandchildren, Kristopher Mark Tucker, Michael Scott Lyons, Kevin Allen Lyons, Steven Andrew Lyons Giles, Jonathan Stewart Giles, Amy Elizabeth Giles and Michael Allen Giles. He also leaves behind his brother, Harold Edward Roberts of Bangkok, Thailand, as well as other family members and many friends. Robbie loved his family very much and was very proud of them and the individuals that he saw them becoming.

There is a vast difference between talking a good talk and living it. It is how you live your life that really tells the story of who you are. Robbie?s life spoke volumes of him, telling of a man who lived a life of integrity and strength, faith in God and devotion to his family. Robbie retired as Senior Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force in 1968 after 22 years of active service to his country. From there he continued Federal Service with the United States Postal Service for 20 years before retiring. He has been an active member of the First Baptist Church of Gravel Ridge since 1978.

Robbie taught those who knew him the meaning of love and devotion. Now the life he lived by faith, he is enjoying as he sees his Savior and those whom he loved so much that went on before him.

Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church Gravel Ridge on Highway 107 in Gravel Ridge, on Friday, June 13, 2008 @ 10:00 A.M. Burial will be at Rest Hills immediately following the service.
