Lewis Haynes

Lewis Elton Haynes, 86, of Sherwood, passed away December 18, 2012 at Baptist Hospital Springhill.
He was born January 20, 1926, to Lewis Allen and Hattie B. Haynes in Grant County. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1944, and served in Okinawa during World War II. After the war, he returned to Sheridan and completed high school before marrying Geneva Ella Holloway in 1951. They moved to Sherwood in 1961 when his job was relocated to the Little Rock Air Force Base. He retired from the 189th Airlift Wing in 1986 as a Chief Master Sergeant. He was a long-time member of Victory Baptist Church in Sherwood.

Cherishing his memory are his wife, Geneva Haynes; son, Steven Haynes (Karen); granddaughter, Stephanie Jones (Tony); grandson, Scott Haynes (Katie); and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 20th at Huson Funeral Home in Sherwood with the Service following at 12:00 Noon, and burial at Arkansas Veteran Memorial Cemetery in Sherwood at 1:00 p.m.
