Leslie Lowell Mizell, affectionately known as “Les,” passed away peacefully on May 26, 2024, in Little Rock, Arkansas, at the age of 74. Born on September 4, 1949, in Corning, Arkansas, Les lived a life full of love, service, and dedication to his family, community, and country.
Les served proudly in the United States Air Force from June 1, 1969, to March 1, 1973, achieving the rank of Senior Airman. During his service, he played on an exhibition softball team throughout Europe, showcasing his athletic prowess and team spirit.
After his military service, Les built a successful career in the jewelry business, where he retired as Vice President and Director of Sales at Sissy’s Log Cabin. His passion for jewelry was matched only by his genuine ability to connect with people, making friends wherever he went. Known for his calm, kind, and loving demeanor, Les had an innate style and a knack for humor that endeared him to all who knew him. He was also humorously known as the neighborhood teeth puller, a testament to his helpful and jovial nature.
Les had a variety of interests and hobbies, including golf and baseball, and he was a dedicated board member of the Pine Bluff Arts & Sciences Center. His community involvement and dedication to enriching the lives of those around him were deeply appreciated.
Les is preceded in death by his parents, Marion Lowell Mizell and Elsie Faye Fickert Mizell, and his beloved son, Christopher Blake Mizell. He is survived by his cherished daughters, Jessica Anne Cline (husband Daniel) of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Ashley Nicole Jacobs (husband Derrick) of Hensley, Arkansas. Les leaves behind three treasured grandchildren: Felix Andrew Cline, Emberly Kaye Jacobs, and Conner Christian Jacobs, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 10:00 am, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 am at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Court, Little Rock, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The Dorcas House.
Les Mizell’s life was a testament to kindness, dedication, and love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
