Leota Mae Nivens, age 82 of Arkadelphia died Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at the Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia. She was born April 16, 1923 in DeQueen, AR the daughter of the late Royal E. and Leota Belle Brawner Holland. She was a supervisor at Hollywood Vasserette , a Baptist and worked for the Foster Grandparent Program. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luke M. Nivens, Sr., two brothers, Royal Edwin and Robert Holland; four sisters, Laurie Risenhoover, Darlene Podgornik, Edna Pope and Evelyn Chathem ,one grandson, Jeffrey Thomas Cook and one son-in-law, Wilson Curham
Survivors include one son, Luke M. Nivens, Jr. and wife, Carolyn of Bismarck; three daughters, Linda Sorensen and husband, Michael, Sharron Cook and Pat Curham all of Caddo Valley; seven grandchildren, Nels Sorensen of Victoria, TX, Shawn Sorensen and wife, Janet and Patrick Sorensen all of Little Rock, Shannon Sorensen, and Dennis Curham both of Caddo Valley, Robyn Chastain and husband, Mark of Bismarck, Brian Nivens of Bryant; and one sister, Judy Turpin of Oden, AR; six great grandchildren, Jessica Wills, Nick and Noah Brumley, Caitlin Tafolla, Kamdyn Chastain and Shawna Sorensen.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, April 15, 2006 in Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel. Interment will be in the Caddo Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
