Leonard M. Stern, Jr., 85, of Little Rock, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2007. Raised in Camden, Arkansas, the son of Judge Leonard Stern and Carrie Mae Stern, he went on to Tulane where he lettered in football. He was a veteran of World War II and participated in the invasion of Europe. Mr. Stern was a member of Temple B'Nai Israel.
He married Janet Marks on August 10, 1947 and worked as a merchandising manager for Sears & Roebuck, retiring from Sears after 35 years. They returned to make their home in Little Rock in 1980.
Mr. Stern is survived by his loving wife, Janet; children, Lisa M. Stern of Little Rock; Lester M. Stern of Savannah, Georgia; and Leonard M. Stern III of Charlotte, No. Carolina; six grandchildren, Callie Stern, Alaina Stern, Miranda Stern, Megan Stern, Carey Stern and Sam Stern; and one great-grandchild, Kaylee Stern.
The Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday, August 2, at Temple B'Nai Israel, officiated by Rabbi Eugene H. Levy. Burial will follow in Oakland Jewish Cemetery in Little Rock.
