Leon Smith, a native of Amity, died, Thursday, December 12, 2013, at the age of 84. Leon was born the 25th of October 1929 in Amity, Arkansas to Richard Albert Smith and Seffie Sligh Smith. He served in the Navy and upon leaving the Navy, worked for Glass Containers in Los Angeles, California. After retiring from Glass Containers, he moved back to Amity and worked as a millwright. Leon was a member of First Lutheran Church in Hot Springs. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Grace Holt Smith; twin brother, Leo Smith of Amity; his son, Gary (Teri) Smith of Scottsville, Virginia; daughter, Loretta (Irvin) Moss of San Antonio; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, December 16, 2013, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Pastor John Beyer officiating. Interment will be in the Jones Cemetery at Amity. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Gould, Erman Mauldin, Chad Smith, Barry Smith, Jimmy Angel and Charles Dakota. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
