Leon Thomas Dixon, SR, 82, of Mabelvale, passed away June 22, 2021 with his family by his side. Born in North Little Rock to Ralph and Myrtle Sory Dixon, he was a faithful, charter member of New Hope Church of the Nazarene.
He is survived by his children, Renee Fowler (Roger), James Dixon (Tammy), Becky Dixon and Andrea Jobe (Randy); siblings, Allene Estell (Jack), Margie Kelley (the late Ed), Brenda Akel (the late Johnny), Liz Brown (Larry), R.H. Dixon (the late Betty), Carl Dixon (the late Shirley), Annie Pearl Dixon and Geneva Dixon; grandchildren, Dalton Fowler (Morgan), Robert Dixon, Baylee Dixon, Hannah Jobe, Anna Dixon and Ashleigh Ann Dixon; and great-grandchildren, Gentry Fowler and Bentlee Fowler. He is also survived by a special friend and companion, Shelby Holt and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Loretta Dixon, son, Leon Dixon, Jr., and brothers, Harllen Dixon, Arvel Dixon, Charles Dixon and Michael Dixon.
Leon retired at age 57 from ABF as a diesel mechanic. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved his family and his church. He was a great storyteller who took time to teach others about God, hunting, fishing, mechanics and values. He served in many capacities within his church including Sunday School teacher, superintendent, treasurer, and lead guitarist. He was a member of Antler Deer Club and a lifetime member of the NRA. He was a “builder”; helping to build his own home, the church, a home for James and Tammy, and a cabin at the deer camp.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 25 from 6-8 p.m. at New Hope Church of the Nazarene, 5519 Atwood Rd., Little Rock, 72206. Services will be Saturday, June 26 at 11:00 a.m. at the church, followed by burial at Olive Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers are Arkey Akel, Harlen Joe Dixon, Matt Dixon, Wayne Estell, David Norman Jr, Dustin Lunsford, Darren Norman, and Dennis Yarberry Jr.
