Leo Frank DeBoard, 83, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2008. He was born on June 29, 1925 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Guy Frank DeBoard and Anna Marie Strassle DeBoard. He grew up in Bigelow, Arkansas, attended Texas A&M University and was retired from 22 years in the military and 43 years in other occupations which included writing technical manuals for Control Data, a real estate broker, computer sales and installations to Arkansas school districts, and more recently, a supervisor at LabCorp until a year before his death.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Katie Louise Shelton DeBoard; his daughter, Sharon Elisabeth Cowin; and his sister, Emily Louise Knod of Clarksville, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his sons, Philip Franklin and Darryl Wayne DeBoard, and his sister, Lillian Ruth Rachaner of Maumelle, Arkansas.He has seven grandchildren, Kasha Halvorsen of Allen, Texas, Christopher Lee Ward and Nicholas Shelton Cowin of McKinney, Texas, Barry Lee DeBoard of Lewisville, Texas, Jessica Danielle Early of Amarillo, Texas, Kyle and Katie DeBoard of Crowley, Texas and four great-grandchildren, Elisabeth, Megan, Joshua and Jacob.
He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Janis Dedman of Mulvane, Kansas, Diana Williams of Laverne, Tennessee, Rita Ann Wainio of Kansas, Anita Salater of Little Rock, Charles and Lawrence Rachaner of Gravel Ridge, Arkansas; and several brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles Shelton (Lillian), Robert Shelton (Hilde), Lawrence Shelton (Cindy), Mary Gotelli (Raymond), Claude Shelton (Mary), Lynnda Lynch and Laura Sellers. Others who preceded him in death were Barbara Stewart (Raymond), John William Shelton (Norvalene) and Olive Katherine (Tupie) Kelly.
A service will be held on Thursday, July 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock, officiated by Rev. Linda Singh.
