Lena Black

March 7, 1927 — July 21, 2019

Lena Black

Lena G. Black, 92, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, July 21, 2019. Lena was born March 7, 1927 in upstate New York. She was one of eight children and spoke often of fond memories with her parents and siblings.  Lena lived in New York for 71 years where she worked as a registered nurse and retired from the State. During this time she married and had two children, David and Diane. She then married her second husband, Albert Black, moved to Florida for a few years before her final move to Little Rock, AR where she spent the last 21 years of her life.

Lena was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Little Rock, AR. Some of her favorite things to do in her later years were painting ceramics, reading about birds, laughing and eating chocolate. “A merry heart does good like a medicine,” and we believe it attributed to her long life.

She is survived by her children David Redner and Diane Feduik of New York; stepchildren, Trudy Trask of New York; Fred Black (Betty) of Little Rock; Doris (Sid) Royce of Florida; Bert Black (Ann) and Jerry Black, both of Little Rock; and Gary Black (Toni) of California. She also had 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband and seven siblings preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lena's name to St. Theresa's Catholic Church.

A prayer vigil will be held at 5:30pm on Wednesday, July 24, 2019. The funeral will be at 10am on Thursday, July 25, 2019. Both services will be at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church at 6219 Baseline Rd. in Little Rock.

Lena was greatly loved and will be dearly missed. We are rejoicing that she is now in Heaven.
