Lemuel Gene Simpson, 78, of Lonoke, formerly of Stuttgart, passed away at home on July 6, 2022, surrounded by his family. Gene was born on August 21, 1943, in Stuttgart.

Gene was a Navy veteran. He loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. He also loved to tinker in his garage, working on different projects. He loved woodworking, building and flying RC model airplanes, and refinishing guns.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oni and Ira Simpson, and his brother Larry.

He is survived by his wife of almost 58 years Deborah and their children Jan and Alex Franks of Mountain View and Keely and Mark Roberts of Lonoke; grandchildren Nate Franks, Audrey and Dallas Forbes, and Eli Roberts; brother Charlie Simpson and wife Brenda and family; sister Pat Wallace and husband Mike and family; brother Larry’s children and families; and his hunting buddies David Lee, Gary Oliver, and Butch Shirkey.

Donations may be made in Gene’s memory to Hospice Home Care Little Rock, the American Cancer Society, National Kidney Foundation, CARTI Little Rock, or donor’s choice.

No funeral service will be held.
