Leah E. Chappell, 95 of Hot Springs passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at the home of her son. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-eight years, Russell E. Chappell, who went to our Lord July 21, 2001. Leah lived most of her 95 years in the Alton and Wood River, IL area. She was born in Bunker Hill, IL, the last survivor of seven children born to the late William and Anna Grady Keirle. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Survivors include a son, Russell Leon Chappell of Hot Springs (Diamondhead), AR; three daughters, Chloe (Larry) Huber of Libertyville, IL, Sheryl (Jim) Gunter of Fairfield Glades, TN, and Nancy (Charles) Stephens of Grayslake, IL; eight grandchildren,; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a nephew, Gordon Keirle, and a niece, Carol Wedemeier, both of St. Louis, MO.

Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 24th at Paynic Funeral Home, East Alton, IL.

Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 25th at St. John United Church of Christ, Wood River, IL, with Rev. Chris Hill and Dr. James Mennerich officiating. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bethalto, IL. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to St. John United Church of Christ, Wood River; or to Arkansas Hospice, 1307 Central Ave., Hot Springs, AR 71901.
