Lawrence R. Vowan age 93, of Arkadelphia, formerly of Cabot, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018 in Arkadelphia. He was born September 14, 1925 in Lonoke County to the late Newton and Lota Landers Vowan.
He was a graduate of Cabot High School and Ouachita Baptist University. He attended Mid-Western Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. Lawrence was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War serving in the U. S. Air Force and the U. S. Navy. He was a minister for over forty years serving churches in Arkansas and Missouri.
Survivors are his wife of seventy-one years, Helen Dicus Vowan; a daughter, Brenda McGlone and her husband, Lee of Arkadelphia; three grandchildren, Chris McGlone and wife, Alicia, Ashley Freeman and husband, Jason and Nick McGlone and wife, Katie; six great-grandchildren, Andrew McGlone, Mya Maxwell, Maggie McGlone, Jack McGlone, Allie Freeman and Grayson McGlone; his sister-in-law, Teresa Carter; his brother-in-law, Dalton Cartmel; nieces, Donna Mann, Sara Marshall, Kelly Journey and Cindy Jones; nephews, David Carter and Jimmy Carter,
Visitation will be 2:00 PM Thursday, October 4th at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Cabot.
Services will follow at 3:00 PM at the church with Dr. Lee McGlone and Bro. Terry Fortner officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Sumner Cemetery.
