Laverne Petty, age 89, of Mount Ida, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022.

 

She was born on November 6, 1932, in Point Cedar, the daughter of Adrian Duncan and Lucille Elizabeth Thacker Duncan.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Geraldine Teal; two brothers, Tommy Teal and Larry Teal; two sons-in-law, Bobby Bradshaw and Freddy Bradshaw; and two grandsons, Chris Bradshaw and Bryce Yarbrough.

 

She enjoyed gardening, her roses, playing card games, watching preaching on TV and the hummingbirds in her yard.  She will forever be remembered for her wonderful cooking, especially her delicious biscuits she would bake with her youngest granddaughter.  Laverne loved to go fishing and camping, and watching her favorite shows, Texas Walker and Big Butt. 

 

Above all, Laverne’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, who she dearly loved and cherished.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

 

She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Peggy Bradshaw of Hot Springs, Brenda Bradshaw of Hot Springs, Johnny and Mary Yarbrough of Amity; Jimmy Yarbrough of Hot Springs and Teresa and Jay D Manley of Bentonville; her grandchildren and their spouses, Tracy Sava and Charlie, Lynn Bradshaw, Amanda and Jeff Baiza, Sondra and Kylan Waggoner, Chance Bradshaw, Dee Jay and April Manley, Samantha and Kevin Bingham, Johnny, Jr. and Morgan Yarbrough, Dakota and Kaitlyn Yarbrough and Tressa Manley; her great-grandchildren, Brittany Tankersley and her husband, Anthony, Megan Mead, Audrey, Nicholas and Landon Waggoner, Isabelle and Warner Biaza, Myra Shroff, Peyton Bingham, Conner Bradshaw, Bryar, Riley and Harper Yarbrough, Madyson, Adeline and Charlotte Manley, Keziah and Wrangler Yarbrough; four great-great-grandchildren, Christian and Cameron Mead and Malachi and Marleigh Tankersley; four sisters, Glenda Norris, Wanda Wood, Linda Teal and Betty Lea; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 15, 2022, in the Smith Family Funeral Home in Glenwood with Bro. Clayton Sheets officiating.

 

Visitation will be held Thursday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.

 

Interment will be in the Old Piney Cemetery in Mount Ida.

 

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Charlie Berry, Kevin Bingham, Chance Bradshaw, Dee Jay Manley, Johnny Yarbrough, Jr., Dakota Yarbrough and Landon Waggoner.
