On February 10, 2010, LaVerne Kathleen (Wyatt) Hanks, of McRae, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord. She was born October 7, 1921. LaVerne was preceded in death by her father, Walker C. Wyatt and mother, Flora (Alford) Wyatt; one sister, Louise (Wyatt) Yeoman; three brothers, Jack, Myrel and Ralph Wyatt; and one niece, Candace Mae Wyatt of Indiana. In 1945, she met Raymond Hanks, the love of her life. They were married on May 17, 1946 in Mishawaki, Indiana. At her death, they had been married sixty-three years and nine months. LaVerne and Raymond weren't blessed with any children, but had one nephew, Thomas Wyatt of McRae that they both think of as a son. She had many nieces and great-nieces, cousins and lots of family and friends. She was a Christian, and attended church at her beloved Landmark Missionary Baptist Church on Access Road in Beebe as regularly as the Lord permitted her to. She loved cooking, fishing, gardening and making her quilts.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Johnson Chapel Cemetery near Des Arc.
