Lavern Bain, age 93, of Hot Springs, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.
She was born on April 18, 1929, in Hot Springs, the daughter of Reverend George Riley and Nora Arlene Geurin Riley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Bain; her parents; her son, Darren Bain; and two sisters, Clara Dene Garrett and Mary Sue Laird.
Lavern was a Christian and a member of ABL Church. She was known by “Sister” to her friends and “Memaw” to her family. She loved her family so very much and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Leenita and Stan Carpenter; grandson and spouse, Nathan and Laurie Carpenter; three great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Carpenter, Hadley Carpenter and Jonathan Joiner; her brother and sister-in-law, Reverend Bob Riley and Vicki Riley; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Monday, February 27, 2023, with Bro Van Glidewell and Greg Laird officiating in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.
Interment will be in the Rock Springs Cemetery, Jessieville.
Visitation will be 4:00PM until 6:00PM, Sunday, February 26, 2023, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Willis Smith, Wesley Smith, Gary Garrett, Bo Garrett, Lonnie Womack, and Dennis Ward.
Honorary pallbearer will be Dennis Gamble.
