Laurene Kay Pennington

Laurene “Sweetie” Pennington, age 87, of Hot Springs, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022.  

She was born on July 2, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Douglas Pearn and Loretta M. Concannon Pearn.  On December 18, 1976, she married Eugene A. Pennington who predeceased her in September of 2014.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a great-grandchild, Emery Brooke. 

She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Eileen and William Odas Hunnicutt and Laura Rasmussen; six grandchildren, Amy Courtney, Nick, Ralph, Holly and Drew; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Judy Schwabe of Peoria, Arizona; extended family members and a host of wonderful friends. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, Friday, December 16, 2022, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, 2205 Airport Road, Hot Springs, AR 71913.

Interment in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6:00PM-8:00PM, Thursday, December 15, 2022.

Pallbearers are Nick Harvey, Ralph Rasmussen, Drew Rasmussen, Kyle Qualls, Keith Harvey and Kevin Harvey.

Honorary pallbearers are the staff and nurses of Gentiva Hospice, Dr. Neeraj Bharany and Dr. Timothy English.
